Accreditation
Accreditation is the International Association of Business Communicators' professional development and certification program. It offers professional communicators a way of demonstrating their ability to think and plan strategically and to successfully manage those skills essential to effective organizational communication.Candidates meeting all requirements of the program earn the designation 'Accredited Business Communicator,' which is the only internationally recognized accreditation in the field. To apply for accreditation, you must have a minimum of five years' experience in the communication profession and a bachelor's degree, or a total of nine years of experience and/or post-secondary education. The process includes three steps. First, you submit an application. Once your application has been approved, you submit a portfolio of work samples demonstrating the range of communication projects you've been responsible for and showing how well you understand communication planning. Finally, there is an examination consisting of four hours of written testing and 30 minutes of oral testing. It takes only 2-3 days for your application to be approved, and about 6-8 weeks for the portfolio. For information, please contact Richard R. Becker, ABC, accreditation chair, at rich@copywriteink.com. |
